Jennifer Buergermeister, MA, C Ht, RYT, DD – teaches psychology, health, and neurobiology at three universities. She is a consultant to HISD for the Sonima Foundation, mindfulness trainer at Menninger, and the CEO and Founder of Breathe the Cure, Inc. which facilitates programs for children and adults by incorporating health and wellness such as Jennyoga and the Texas Yoga Conference. Jennyoga offers staffing at many reputable organizations and corporations such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Houston Ayurveda Center, Interface-Samaritan Counseling Centers, Greystar Properties and Rice University.
After graduating in 1999 with honors from the University of Houston with a double degree – B.S. Psychology with emphasis in Biology, minor in Anthropology and B.A Journalism, minor Speech Communication – she later graduated from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University in Palo Alto, CA, and holds a MA in Transpersonal Psychology. She also completed a one-year program in 2013 at Rice University studying Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.
Jenny has practiced yoga since 1992 and has studied Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, Forrest and Ayurveda + South Indian marital arts yoga with Swami Vidyadhishananda Giri, David Williams, Robert Boustany, Jonny Kest, Shiva Rea, John Friend, Ana Forrest and Scott Blossom respectfully. She has also studied with Leslie Kaminoff, Duncan Wong, and Brenda & Georg Feuerstein.
She teaches three undergraduate courses at Rice University and two online courses in Neurobiology/Psych and Biomechanics for design graduate students at Boston Architectural College. Jenny also previously taught at Emery Weiner Upper School for two years. Jenny co-authored a children’s book called the FUNdamentals of Breathing and Yoga released in 2012.
Jenny has given public presentations at the YMCA, Pennzoil Oil Co, Jewish Women’s Federation, Unity Church, Incarnate Word, Texas Yoga Conference, Om Vibrations, Yoga Month Health Festival 2008 in Austin, Telluride Yoga Festival, Interfaith Ministries, Yoga Round-up and the Yoga Alliance Leadership Conference. She also taught classes or courses at at Jennyoga, JCC Houston, The Houstonian, The Good Space, Tomball College, Hadassah and Beth Israel.
